I have been receiving medical attention at the Jamaica center since the year 2000 when it was the HIP center. I liked the convenience of being able to have my primary doctor, specialists and lab work all in one place.

Then the center changed to QLMC. It continued to have solid medical care attention, not perfect, but reliable. However, since it converted to Advantage Care, I have witnessed the most unreliable attention on behalf of the staff operating the phone, attending at the reception area and those collecting co-payments at the front desk. Are these workers past mechanics or something?

They do not have the medical skills needed to schedule specialized appointments or identify when a patients' medical needs need urgent appointments. Commonly they make decisions on their own based assumptions and ignorance. I requested my lab work results and my doctor told me to ask a attendee at the front desk. I needed these for an endoscopy being done by an out of network doctor (which I chose with my Emblem Care/GHI insurance) because I would have had to wait 3 months before a specialist could see me at this center.

Nonetheless, I requested this from this woman and she gave me an envelope with what I thought were my lab results. I trusted her judgement and I left only to find that she had simply included my most vital signs and not my lab work. Obviously, she didn't know how to distinguish lab work from vital signs taken that day. She spent more time disgruntling over my next appointment with my doctor than focusing on what she should have given me.

I have had to cancel my procedure and instead will be going next week to have my gastroenterologist do the blood work. Such a waste of time and resources because Advantage Care obviously has chosen staff members with low skills to operate its reception areas. I am seriously considering finding another PCD... in addition, they scheduled a sonogram of my thyroid, stomach and bladder all in one day and now they are charging me over $384 dollars "co-payment" because they failed to get approval from my insurance for this procedure.

Since my insurance only paid for one of the sonograms, they now expect me to pay the other 2. I want to add that they had a trainee doing the sonogram and she had to have a qualified technician oversee what she had already done. I was there for 3 hours. Finally, when my doctor received the results he asked me when had I gotten a hysterectomy because nothing showed up on the sonogram.

I've never had a hysterectomy.

I am so disappointed in the way Advantage Care is running the Queens medical centers. Obviously they are more concerned with cutting costs and hiring cheap labor.

Reason of review: I am finally seeking another medical care facility.

Advantagecare Physicians Cons: Customer care.

Location: Queens, New York

Wow...what you've just described seems like incompetence to me. I've had this discussion with members of my family recently and we all seem to agree that these days that people in general view their job as "just a job" and skills which they ought to have acquired are sorely lacking.

Might I suggest to you that you write a letter to Karen Ignagni, President and CEO of EmblemHealth. The Corporate Headquarters address is 55 Water Street, New York, NY 10041.

Perhaps if she were to read some of the feedback in which patients have taken the time and energy to document and send to her, it might may some difference. Itโ€™s for certain though that if issues are not brought to her attention by the consumer of health care services at EmblemHealth and they opt to go elsewhere for their health care services, it will affect the bottom line ($$$) at EH.
