Couldn't get an approval fast enough for a PET Scan.

Needed an approval for a PET scan, because I couldn't use who they referred my father to, they don't take emblem VIP Prime at Optum or any Optum. So being advantage care must have a contract with them, I needed to find a provider out of network.

So because I'm using an imaging center out of network, the referral is not approved on the spot. Which pushes my father back a week for a PET scan instead of now. See, it's all corporate. It's about the almighty dollar.

Nobody cares about the human beings that are paying their salaries. I had to cancel his appointment for 3/4/2025 to 3/11/2025 all because of an approval number.

Ms Marsh Dr Ramnarine's medical assistant

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Today was the last straw ( Ms Marsh

Dr Ramnarines medical assistant put her middle finger up at me.

She has had a problem with me for over two years. She was wearing a oil it was so powerful you could smell it all over the the waiting room.

I said " what are you wearing its making me sneeze.

She has had me waiting while she finds someone to call me to the waiting room and fo my vitals.

I am on time for all appointments yet I am unconvinced because she has an attitude with me.

Today I said there is no one answering the door to the bathroom. She yelled there must be someone in there I said no one is in there. Again she yelled so loud two people came out .

I said I can't believe you gave me the finger.

The staff person wearing black scrubs tried the door and said she had to get maintenance to open the door. Ms Marsh stood up in a threaten aggressive manner.

The same staff in black scrubs ( no name tag) instructed me to use a bathroom down the hall.

I canceled all my up coming appointments due to the fact the receptionist said if I miss an appointment I will be charged $50.00 and even if I have to reschedule.

I did not sign up for that.

Especially when I go for scheduled appointments I'm there on time and leave 2hrs-3hrs later.

Who pays me ? While the staff is talking instead of working while patients are waiting

Thank you for nothing .

I would not recommend to anyone.

PCP turnover without notification to patient = abandonment

I have made a formal complaint to the nys department of health

Original review Sep 28, 2024

I have been with ACPNY for years now and I wonder why. Let's start at the front desk - lazy and unprofessional attitude.

Most importantly, there's a fast turnover or abandonment of PCPs without notification to the patient, making it difficult to get a needed prescription renewed. Not good, not good at all!

Disrespectful receptionist at 3245 Nostrand Ave

Today, Friday, June 21st, a little before 1 pm at 3245 Nostrand Avenue in Brooklyn, at one of the Advantage Care sites, I asked a receptionist - NOT the one in Reception Area 125 (the receptionist there was nice) - but the other woman in the next Reception Area (maybe Reception Area 127?). She looked maybe in her early 40's with short hair and glasses.

I needed to know where a certain staff member was, as I had a message regarding the refill of a family member's medication. This lady, with brown skin and a low afro with pink or burgundy highlights, looked at me as if I was a piece of crap as I stood before the reception desk. Irritatedly, she noted where I could find the staff member. When I asked for clarification, she raised her voice and repeated her nasty answer.

I looked at her 'hard' and said 'thank you', and it seemed like she knew I was very irritated. When I eventually spoke to the staff member at Reception Area 125, they were very polite, yet another staff member, a dark-skinned woman wearing scrubs, looked at me like I was a piece of crap. FOLKS, PLEASE BE MINDFUL OF YOUR NON-VERBALS AND VERBALS AT WORK. I hope Advantage Care management reads this and provides refresher customer service training for their staff.

As a Licensed Healthcare professional myself in both North and South Carolina, I know the importance of being respectful, particularly to patients and the public in general. Although receptionists are not direct care providers, they represent the organization when interacting with the public. Don't look at or speak to ANYONE you get paid to interact with like they're crap. The woman is fortunate I know how to respond because someone else might have gone 'off' on her.

Also, if a patient or someone else from the public with suicidal thoughts experienced that same type of disrespect, they could have gone home, having lost faith in the kindness of others, and acted on their self-harming thoughts. I hope to God someone looks into my complaint and gives this disrespectful receptionist some coaching on how to interact with the public!

"Incompetent & Dismissive Physicians!"

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Original review updated Jun 27, 2024

I went to the company with a specific problem and requested follow-up testing to confirm prior test results. The physician was dismissive and in her summary notes, documented her own thoughts about the reason for my visit.

She was derelict in sending lab orders, which ended up requiring another visit and additional blood draw.

The providers are usually uncaring and rude. If my insurance did not identify them as preferred providers, meaning I do not have to pay any copays with little restrictions on referrals, I would no longer be a patient.

Safety Issues

On the first of April 2024, I was assaulted at the 101 Pennsylvania Avenue office for Advantage Care Physicians. While turning back to have my paperwork done, I decided not to join the long line again since I was already seen.

Another patient decided to argue with me when clearly we were both skipping the line. I tried explaining that I had already been seen and I just wanted to get my paperwork done. We got into a back and forth about her rudeness and the fact that neither one of us worked there, so she should mind her business. Shortly after, another person came over and asked me to ignore this patient who was overstepping her boundaries.

I tried finding comfort by speaking to the peacemaker when I said she is really stupid. The nosy, irate patient overheard me and then challenged me to SAY IT AGAIN. So I did and in less than 10 seconds, I was sent into the glass flying when this woman pushed me. I got up and defended myself.

Now I have received a letter from this facility written by Jonathan Montgomery (legal team) for Advantage Care. The letter states I am no longer allowed to visit or set foot on their premises moving forward. I was also blocked from my online portal and was advised to request my medical records when needed. My main issue is - WHERE was their security team?

Even though I wasn't badly injured, I was pushed into the glass window and was forced to defend myself. It was my doctor and another staff member who broke up the fight. I'm not a fighter but I am a survivor. Of course, I would not allow anyone to put their hands on me; my mama is already dead.

In fact, April 3rd would have been her birthday. So I was already coping and here this lady came and took me out of my character. I wrote an email to Mr. Montgomery and he did not respond.

I feel like I'm not being treated fairly and even though I was victimized on their premises, no one cared about my safety.

I'll move on to another medical facility and hopefully they protect their patients. Advantage Care really does not care.

Advantage Care 3 is misleading and outright lies to get business. I was told by two different representative that a claim would be paid to my doctor.

After I got a new job and went back to insurance through my company, they refused to pay to this day.

It is a complete scam. I'd recommend you don't do business with AdvantageCare.

No call back

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I need a refill on my medication and the doctors and staff do not respond to call backs or text messages. You cant talk directly to the doctor because all calls go through the call center.

Its very stressful when trying to refill on your lifesaving medication and your doctor does not respond to your pleas for assistance. Every time I need medication refills I have tried calling over and over again with no response to emails or phone calls.

My pharmacist can not sent out medication request without a doctors recommendation. I recommend that no one should put their health in the hands of advantage care.

Poor service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My pcp ordered a prescription for me. The pharmacy said that they dont take my insurance anymore.

I went back to the flushing acpny location, asked the the person in the front to have the staff change my pharmacy. He spoke to them and said it was done. I went to the pharmacy about two hours later and no prescription. I called acpny again and waited almost 25 minutes for a response.

I got a call back about 30 minutes later and the Doctors staff told me that she was busy and when she does it she does it. I still havent gotten my prescription. Im definitely leaving this insurance when open enrollment comes around. Stay away from this type of service!
